    thank god for Fred bc host is the worst interviewer ever . he’s not even, at the bare minimum, a conversationalist . no bantering just reading off a question sheet . i’m sorry i can just feel all the jealousy . he doesn’t even comment on what fred said before he’s just annoyed /zoned out in the face , falling asleep, arms crossed ready to move on and be done . bro needs to drop some tabs and experience ego death . just be excited for another artist and stop faking emotion with cliche facial expressions that blatantly say you weren’t listening. only saying this bc i feel bad for fred having to talk to himself and take time out of his day to get asked repetitive & empty questions that don’t even help the audience understand his unique writing style . there are no secrets or quick connections that will make your songs “popular”. it’s pure talent & consistent work motivated by a genuine passion for making music. you have to be an authentic person actually interested in getting to know people . burna bro wouldn’t work with someone just cuz they have the technical talent , you have to be personable to work with great people . stop separating your personality from ur work , you have to be an integrated being. there is no self. there is no success. enjoying what you do every moment is success . clinging to material or social gain and dwelling on one’s lack is suffering . be yourself.

    💯🗣️🤳🏽 To be fair, Caren is great, yet he sounded more like a slave owner more than a music savant. When they were talking about copyright infringement & writers getting paid for their work being used multiple times for pennies on the dollar. It was cringe to listen to. The interviewer was able to contrast that logic in real time with Caren. Aaaand Caren had to listen being he already trust his output as a writer. Not that Caren is expected to change yet, he's Thomas Jefferson witnessing Benjamin Banneker's almanac for the first time.. The response & respect will out live this moment Overall good interview tho💯

    Already starting with a Iie off the ba at 1:18 - David did not co-found Evanescence, that's such a laughably shameless lie 😂 If you lie and let a lie stay about something so widely and easily refutable by just checking who founded Ev in what year, you tell a lot about yourself right then 😂 Amy and Ben co-founded Ev in 1995 as a duo, when they were 14 and 15 and were already making music as Ev since 1994. Ev was from 1994 to 2003 the duo of Amy and Ben. Ben: "We just wanted it to be the two of us and so we'd play once or twice a year." Amy: "It was more because that's what we did and how we worked rather than not wanting any other input. The idea of a full band playing these songs was something that only came along later." Ben in August 2003: "Evanescence is just Amy and I, and I want to keep it that way." First, let's get one of many significant facts out the way now - Along with Ben's two t0xic tour buddies John and Rocky, David is good friends with Ben, who is a disgustlng man, a manipuIator and abvser, physically and mentaIIy abvser Amy for years and is whom she wrote the songs that reference abuse about, David and the other two knew and know he is an abwser (of Amy and other women, including his ex wife) and don't care, and along with the aforementioned three he tried to undermine and sabotage Amy for a long time. Back to basics. David was hired by Ben five years after Any and Ben formed Ev, to be a studio contributor for a couple years and that's it. Amy and Ben had hired several other session and live players over the years, including the tour players (John & Rocky) hired by Ben after Fallen was completed. It is so disingenuous to big David up, and the fact that David didn't even correct him makes him just as shady. Interesting to know that Ben very early on already wanted to leave Evanescence back when Amy and him were teens and work a job where he could make more money. Not surprising. You could tell his heart was never really in it and he was just pretending for the most part, mostly focused on commercializing as much as possible and wanting to dominate as much as possible. The fact that right after leaving Ev mid-tour he went to co-write for pop stars with David, both of whom were focused on commerciality, spoke volumes. No surprise also that he treated Amy so ugly too (apart from being an abuser), tried to diminish and undermine her and he influenced the guys he hired to do so as well, even making decisions for Ev without her and bringing on some random guy (David) she didn't know, doing stuff with him on AMY and ben's music without asking her, on HER songwriting after Amy and him had been working on Ev music for five years already. The ego of these men. Amy herself called Ben poisonous, and she knew very well then having been a victim of his abuse and undermining for years. Back to David - David trying to talk "we" and speak for Amy regarding the Bring Me To Life rap issue with the label, when Amy was the one who had to deal and fight the label constantly, not them, fight the inherent sexism. As if those two gave a crap about her struggles and tribulations (and David sure didn't give a crap that Ben, his friend, was physically and emotionally abusive to Amy). She knew the deeply sexist attitude that was driving that original label demand, among other things, and that it wasn't what Ev was and she founded it on. And then him speaking for Amy again on what they think of BMTL with the rap - he has no business speaking for her on anything - when she stated multiple times she dislikes that she was forced by the label to put a guy's vocal-rap on it regardless and it was a relief when the public still got Ev after they released the second single Going Under. Also, why is David acting like it was Ben and him the whole time? This mf again is so shady and pathetic. David was some random pop-country imposter Ben hired on a whim for couple years cause he was miserable and grumpy as usual, and then fired him before Fallen was completed. And he was completely redundant. Amy and Ben had already written an recorded their music since 1994 and released many demos and two EPs, the two originally worked as young teens from Amy's parents' house with Amy's 16-track recorder and then at Ben's apartment. Even My Immortal, which David loves to pretend is also his song, Ben and Amy completed when they were 15 and 14 - Ben had already written the words from a fictional story and Amy fleshed out the melody and added the bridge. That is not David's at all, his audacity to claim anything Amy and Ben wrote as his is obnoxious and speaks volumes about him. F off. David acts as if he and Ben made it and recorded it. Also omitting the fact that AMY had Ev record the 2000 My Immortal demo at her dad's workplace late at night after they closed, and that is the demo the label used for Fallrn, which Amy famously doesn't like and prefers the later version. This shady mf acts as if Fallen was him and Ben. Fallen's songs are AMY's melodies and lyrics (outside of Ben's My Immortal lyrics) that she wrote on her keyboards since 1996. Fallen is also AMY's choirs. AMY's fighting for orchestra arranger David Campbell to orchestrate the symphonic strings she envisioned. Can't stand when egotistical, insecure men try to discredit women and omit their work. Ev has always Amy's songwriting and musical vision from the start in 1994 - blending of contrasting styles she loved growing up, her gothic melodies, her choral and symphonic elements, and so on. Ben hired random pop-country guy David for a couple years and decides for sh'ts and giggles in resentment against Amy, whom he had dated on/off, that David should be a keyboardist/programmer for bit (which Amy already was and Ben also did programming), for him to then pretend any of the songs Amy and Ben wrote are his 😂 M-f please, what a pathetlc tooI

      It's amazing that David (and those who big him up) doesn't see anything wrong in having been inorganically, randomly forced by one-half of a duo into an already established musical dynamic between the two musicians who started Ev 5 years prior and had already been writing their songs - a musical dynamic that he did not fit in to, which even Ben himself did in 2003, as its not his musical style or his words or his experiences or developed relationship, for him to then claim that duo AMY and BEN's songs as HIS too just cause he was a partial third-ranked keyboard-stings contributor for TWO years doing some partial third-wheel MIDI programmed stuff on Amy's songs, which Amy and Ben had already done before. And then he was justifiably fired by Ben cause he wasn't an organic member, not a rock/metal/alternative guy, didn't fit Ev's approach, and not into into the moody, gothic-tinged blended hard rock music of Ev. It's hilarious how some of these people talk to David as if he's some pop genius and not his career being a run of the mill pop star co-writer (there's so many famed pop writers and producers eons ahead of him in talent and success), or as if he's some grand person behind Ev 😂 Or as if Ev is his at all to claim just cause he got commercial success afterward being a studio-guy-for-hire for pop hits for pop stars. Ben himself admitted in 2003 that David wasn't a good fit for Ev, saying in an interview: "He's probably going to release soIo stuff next year. If you can get a hold of that, you'll understand, you'll see how drastically different it is. We were just going in different directions so we chose to split ways before we built the whole image of the band based on somebody that wasn't going to be there". Ev was never David's, is not David's to claim nor his interviewers to claim for him, he was never needed at all in Ev, and it's not his blood sweat and tears as he likes to pretend it is for attention. And he is not an organic rock/metal band guy, and was never a real organic member of Ev. Ev then was Amy and Ben's and is AMY's blood, sweat and tears since she co-founded on her songwriting and vision, till today (over two decades later). Ev was always AMY's band, her songwriting since she started it (outside Ben's My Immortal words), her piano and keyboards writing and sometimes acoustic guitar, her musical vision despite the label's early interference. This poser pop-country 2-year third-rank guy who was forced in for 2 years, gate-crashing 5 years later at the studio, and later acting like someone of importance, like he's anything of importance to Ev cause the jaded one-foot-out-the-door Ben asked him to check out Amy and his work after he was jealous of Amy (it was said in an old interview that, outside of their teen breakup, Ben was resentful that Amy got the attention early on as the singer and pianist). It was classically-trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist Amy's vision to form Ev to blend her various influences from classical, alternative, metal, symphonic, creepy film scores, industrial, electronica. Amy herself later confirmed that she and Ben ultimately had major creative differences and didn't share the same influences back then and vision for Ev. Ben later admitted that he even tried to force her out because he was resentful. His egotistical self-serving actions, like asking a random guy to come in instead of him just leaving Ev as he wanted to or instead buckling up and working with Amy as opposed to antagonizing and abusing her, are no surprise; and then firing that guy cause he realized that Ev was only musically Amy and him (his own admission)

    • @carpediemearth
      @carpediemearth Рік тому

      Davis is a pop and country studio guy, idk why he thinks he had any right to even be in a hard rock/alternative metal band for which the only reason he was brought in - without the consent of its co-founder whose musical vision it was in the first place - was because Ben was grumpy, wanted to leave Ev and acted on a whim. David was not a real member in any organic sense of the word. He was a redundant and temporary third-rank studio contributor (not unlike other hired studio/session contributors Ev had before and after). Just cause Ben was obsessed with undermining Amy and kept him around for a grand total of two years, to then kick him out, don't make him a real member or anything of importance in Ev. Ev was Amy and Ben's work from 1995 to 2003, then Amy and Terry's, then Amy and the whole band. And the post-TOD Ev band lineup wouldn't have meshed with him then, those are hard rock/metal guys. David was never an organic fit for a touring gothic rock/alt metal band. Afterward, he stuck to what he is and does: co-write pop songs for pop stars and country starts. Ev would've never been taken seriously at all in the cut-throat world of rock and metal with him becoming a real member of Ev. Ben was such a toxic and destructive force in Ev from early on; he was the reason for all the BS Amy as to deal with, and he is the reason for the early spIit, he knows that very well. Thankfully Evanescence persevered, evolved and musically soared after he left, and since 2007-09 has been an actual band of all talented, passionate, versatile, and collaborative musicians who love what they do, and Ev has been doing their best and sonically expansive work since The Open Door

    This is a real conversation. I found out information on Jon that I have never known and I've been a huge fan for almost ten years. SO many interviewers ask him the same stuff over and over again but not here. This is great.

    Could you look any less interested as an interviewer? Hand on your face scrolling your mouse looking at your monitor instead of the person talking...Good job

    Interviewer seems a lil sleep deprived, but good discussion. Fred is always a joy to listen to.

    Wow. Pure passion. What an articulate and humble artist. Great artists don't try to be like anybody, they try to find their own unique view/potential. My take anyway. I'm not a musician but in the creative industry and this was inspiring.

    You realize that Fred is doing music not just for the fame, but he actually loves doing it. People say success amplifies the character. Fred is just so humble, down to earth and focussed on the path. Inspiring.
